2 trucks collide in Toledo City; railings damaged

07/11/2010 - TWO heavy trucks collided on the road in barangay Media Once, Toledo City yesterday morning. No one was injured.

One of the truck drivers said he lost control of the brakes while negotiating a steep downhill portion of the road.

Investigation showed that a six-wheeler dump truck collided with a service truck of Davao Light which was on its way from barangay Magdugo in Toledo City to Cebu City.

The two vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when the accident happened.

Traffic Investigator PO3 Julius Sanchez found that the driver's license of the six-wheeler truck had already expired.

The steel railings along the road in the area were destroyed by the collision but they prevented the trucks from falling into the ravine.

The collision occurred exactly a week after an overloaded V & JA passenger bus owned by V & JA Bus Liner lost its brakes and rammed into a concrete fence in sitio Landing, barangay Don Andres Sorianoin Toledo City, killing 15 passengers and injuring 48 others.

It was the fifth accident involving buses and trucks to hit Cebu province in less than a month.
